Asheville dental practice offers Invisalign treatment to straighten teeth
By Dr. Christopher Port
For residents in Asheville, NC, Dr. Christopher Port of Asheville Smile Center offers a variety of dental services. Patients seeking options to correct their smiles may benefit from clear aligner trays such as Invisalign for the treatment of crooked or misaligned teeth. Patients, adults in particular, often want alternatives to metal brackets. Invisalign is a popular choice.
The purpose of aligner trays
Made of clear, BPA free plastic, Invisalign trays are custom created for each patient. Impressions of your teeth are used to create your personal trays. The trays fit snugly around your teeth to ensure proper placement, avoid movement, and maintain patient comfort. Gentle pressure within the trays gradually shifts the teeth into alignment. A series of trays are used. After wearing one set of trays for a couple weeks, that set is discarded and a new one is worn. The change in pressure placement promotes the progression as your teeth move into the desired positions. Aligner trays are often the treatment of choice for patients needing mild to moderate orthodontic correction.
Orthodontics serve functionality and aesthetic purposes.
Although patients often turn to orthodontics because they want straight, beautiful smiles, orthodontics serve functional purposes as well. Orthodontic treatments keep your teeth straight and healthy. When teeth are crooked or misaligned, it is more difficult to clean all of the hard to reach areas. Bacteria quickly builds up. Straight teeth are easier to clean with regular brushing and flossing. The bite is often corrected too once teeth are in proper alignment.
The Invisalign advantage
Benefits of aligner trays include:
Custom trays are designed from the patient’s teeth to ensure the proper fit.
Invisible trays are made of clear plastic
Comfortable trays fit snugly, allow patients to speak naturally, and can be removed for meals and oral care.
We offer aligner trays as well as the Six Month Smiles system. If you are interested in straightening your teeth, schedule a consultation with Dr. Port today. (828) 585-4049
