FAQs on Porcelain Veneers

Arden area patients ask, “How do veneers work?”

Arden area patients who are fed up with imperfections in their smiles may be interested in speaking with Dr. Christopher Port about cosmetic dental services. Many patients who visit the Asheville Smile Center are introduced to porcelain veneers, a fast and easy method of disguising problems on the natural teeth.

Porcelain veneers are restorations custom made specifically for the patient. Using a ceramist and impressions, Dr. Christopher Port is able to provide natural-looking veneers, which are bonded over the front of teeth to change the appearance of the smile. His team has helped hundreds of patients in feeling more confident in their looks and enjoying a better quality of life thanks to cosmetic dentistry procedures such as this.

However, many patients ask, “How do veneers work?” These restorations cover natural teeth to correct aesthetic concerns patients may have about the appearance of their smiles. They are extremely thin so they do not add extra bulk, and they are made of porcelain—a material commonly used in cosmetic dentistry for its strength and beauty. Porcelain is a ceramic that mimics the look of natural tooth enamel in every way, making it the most desirable solution for aesthetic services available through a dental practice.

Dr. Christopher Port of the Asheville Smile Center believes in offering patients a variety of methods for fixing problems within the smile. While porcelain veneers are extremely popular, there are other methods of repairing the teeth including composite resin dental bonding, orthodontics, and dental crowns. By speaking with a dental professional, patients can get a better idea of the treatments available to them and find out which ones are best suited for their needs and their budget. Dr. Christopher Port and his team work with dental insurance companies in an attempt to get patients coverage to reduce their out-of-pocket expense for most dental work. However, patients must be aware that very few dental insurance plans cover porcelain veneers because they are considered cosmetic elective procedures.
