One service that
Dr. Port can provide for his patients is the installation of crowns and bridges. One of the nice things about crowns and bridges is that they help in situations where patients have teeth that are badly broken down or in danger of cracking. A lot of individuals have teeth with large fillings that have been there for years, but are experiencing cracking around the filling, or their tooth is showing a lot of wear and tear. A crown will help protect the tooth and prevent it from experiencing additional damage. Crowns cover the chewing surface of the tooth and can come down around the sides as well, providing protection and reinforcement. Many of our crowns are made in office with computer design using a CEREC device, which allows us to quickly and easily restore a patient's smile, making it look as though dental work had never been done on their teeth.
Dental bridges are an extension of dental crowns. Unfortunately, some patients have lost teeth, whether it was due to damage, decay, or an extraction. Filling that gap from the missing tooth is essential to keeping up appearances with a natural, beautiful smile, so a bridge is oftentimes used in conjunction with crowns in order to replace a missing tooth and still look like the original tooth. Bridges are a more permanent solution than partial dentures, and require less daily care and maintenance because they are cemented to your existing teeth in order to stay in place.
