Patients in Arden ask, “Can you make a smile more beautiful?”

Stained or missing teeth can cause patients to hide their smiles when laughing or socializing. This is no way to live. Many people in Arden will ask a highly respected dentist in the area, “Can you make a smile more beautiful?” Dr. Christopher Port will reply with a resounding, “Yes,” followed by explaining treatments at Family Dental Health of South Asheville that can transform a smile.

Brightening smiles

We offer three whitening treatments that can rejuvenate smiles – in-office whitening, at-home whitening, and whitening brushes. Depending on the needs of patients, we will recommend the right treatment for them. During the in-office procedure, we ensure the face, lips, and gums are protected before applying a whitening gel to the teeth. After a single appointment, patients can enjoy smiles several shades lighter. We also provide the option to whiten the teeth in the comfort of home. We will take impressions of the dental arches, which are used to create customized trays. When patients apply whitening gel to the trays and wear them daily they can enjoy the same results as the in-office treatments. Our third option is whitening brushes, which should be used after brushing the teeth. For treatment, patients “paint” gel onto their teeth daily to achieve optimal results.

Restoring missing teeth

Another way to restore beauty to the smile is to replace missing teeth. In addition to aesthetic benefits, replacing missing teeth can ensure a healthier smile. Left untreated, teeth can shift into gaps from missing teeth. This makes them more difficult to keep clean when brushing and flossing, increasing the risk of tooth decay and gum disease. We provide dental bridges, dentures, and dental implants. Each treatment can restore the ability to bite, chew, and speak properly as well as renew confidence. Dental bridges can contain dental crowns, which are placed on adjacent teeth to hold the bridges in place. Dentures can be used for partial to complete tooth loss. Dental implants are placed during oral surgery. After the jawbone has healed, we can place crowns or dentures on top of them to restore health, beauty, and function to the smile.
