Porcelain Veneers

Are natural-looking cosmetic veneers right for my smile?

Enhancing the smile is more than just professional-grade teeth whitening. Other options are readily available within our line of cosmetic treatments for many patients who visit Drs. Forest Christopher Port and Kevin Yee. This includes our popular natural-looking veneers for covering imperfections of the smile. Our team at Family Dental Health of South Asheville in Arden, North Carolina, encourages patients with imperfections on the teeth at the front of the smile, referred to medically as the anterior teeth, to talk to our team about their options for coverage.

What are cosmetic veneers?

Cosmetic veneers, sometimes called dental veneers, are very thin shells of porcelain that a dentist bonds over a tooth to disguise areas where imperfections exist. These veneers are customized to each patient to ensure they blend in with the smile and look as natural-looking as possible in terms of size, shape, color, and overall aesthetics.

What can porcelain veneers disguise?

Porcelain veneers disguise imperfections on the front of the smile that impact a patient’s overall appearance. They are ideal for covering:

  • Tooth discoloration
  • Chips and cracks on the smile
  • Gap between teeth
  • Teeth that are misshapen or oddly sized
  • Minor misalignment of a single tooth

What can I expect when obtaining natural-looking veneers?

First, our dentists will have you schedule a consultation appointment and evaluation to determine if you are a proper candidate for porcelain veneers. If you decide to move forward with having veneers placed, we prepare the teeth to be covered by filing down a thin portion of the enamel on the front-facing area. Then, impressions are taken, also known as molds, that will be used in creating the final restoration. A ceramist at an outside laboratory creates the final veneer using these impressions and information from our dental team regarding shape and color. Once the veneers are complete, they are mailed back to our office, and patients return to have them bonded in place. The bonding procedure is quick and easy, making them an excellent option for anyone looking for a fast smile makeover.

How long will my dental veneers last?

The results of porcelain veneers are long-lasting when patients maintain regular dental visits and take care of their veneers at home each day. With proper attention, many of our patients will enjoy their dental veneers for a decade or longer, making them a reliable option for those seeking a solution that requires minimal care and attention while offering rejuvenation that lasts years afterward!
